When I try to burn a backup file from Photoshop Elements to a DVD I get an error message reading " There is no writable CD or DVD drive available" and the 'D:' drive is not showing in the list of drives in Photoshop. It shows correctly in My Computer, and lists as working correctly in device manager, and seems to behave properly otherwise.
Any ideas or suggestions? |

You have to save it to your PC first and then burn it to disc with a separate program . Discs aren't like thumb drives, you can't just save / remove files from them . |

Thanks for the reply Chill. I am sure I have been able to save the backup directly to DVD in the past. In fact this is what Photoshop Elements expects. It seems to be looking for a writable drive, and is unable to find one. |

You can *sometimes* do that if you have the right software on your PC and have a DVD+/-RW disc in the drive that you can use, and it's formatted in a special way too... But mostly no. |

No offence at stating the bleedin' obvious, but please also be sure that there's a blank writable disc in the drive before you try this as well, and that the disc is not beyond the capacity of the drive (eg a DVD disc inside a CD drive = no good) |

Brand new blank DVD writable sitting in the drive. This has always worked in the past as I have older backup disks to prove it. Now, for some reason Elements can't even find the drive. |
