My Molly (Avatar) might do just this. Where I go she goes. When I stop, she stops, and lies down beside me till I move again. Mind you, at our ages we are both entitled to lay around a bit

1300980 2012-09-14 07:11:00 A beautiful and touching story, and one that leaves you wondering about what it is that the dog has sensed, and maybe continues to sense... is it just scent, or is ther emaybe more beyond life and death which we are blind to?

Your dog Molly looks cute and intelligent. What's her breed? I'm guessing the pic was taken while she was still a pup.

She is now a nearly 13 year old corgi. A great mate. As I have posted before, I had hip replacement, then a couple of weeks later, a mini stroke (TIA) and then a dinkun stroke around 6 hours later. It is a long slow recovery and Molly has been by my side every minute since I came home from the hospital. Between my SWMBO and my mutt, I have not lacked for loving care. Bless them both!!

Things are improving. I am now allowed to drive our auto Corolla which is a godsend. First drive yesterday. I suggest Napier members keep out of my way:cool:

1300985 2012-09-14 10:00:00 There has been quite a few stories of dogs staying at their masters side after they had died.

I'm reminded of the passing of a friend of mine, an elderly 90+ lady, who was on her death bed for several days.

Within minutes of the arrival of her favourite grandson, travelling from Wellington to St Heliers, she passed away. She never regained consciousness, but was just waiting for his arrival before passing on.

Her very loyal and elderly cat, who had kept a vigil on the end of her bed for 3 - 4 days without budging for food, water, or ablutions, at the time of her passing stretched itself, went outside for its toilet, then came back inside and made a very noisy demand for food. Its job had been done.

A dog, in the next room at the time of her passing, gave a long howl.

I think that there is more to life - or life after death - than we are prepared to entertain.

So Kenj, I'm not a cat person, definitely a dog person. But there's hope for the felines somewhere.

What??!! Cause a couple of animals could tell when the person stopped breathing/heart beating etc??

Hell of a conclusion to come to.
