| 1326190 | 2013-02-04 09:06:00 | Look that's great that you can update your Linux distro with no reboots, but Windows is different, it is very very challenging to update files that are in use and there are lots of files/IE/explorer and core DLLs that re in use Not sure if this is your experience with Windows XP, which is now 12 years old, things are much better in Windows 7 and even better again in Windows 8 and if installing Office needs 7 reboots something is wrong It would be interesting to know how the difference comes about. I have noticed that Windows 7 is better but haven't had enough to do with 8 to gauge it. There is actually a program which you can use in Linux to do a live kernel update as well. Admittedly the Office program was quite a few years ago and was the Small business edition. I could have held off on some of the reboots but not knowing what was going to depend on what I decided it was better to do the reboots. |
