| 1301120 | 2012-09-16 00:04:00 | I bought a small butane flame thrower that I thought would kill thistles in the lawn as well as grass around the edges of the lawns. I burnt the thistles and this killed all the grass around the thistles. The thistles thrived. Obviously too small for the job. A real unit will bring down birds (ready cooked) from 500 feet up, and defrost the neighbours' fridges just on the stand-by setting. Pull the trigger and you will have a realistic Mars landscape 500 metres in diameter. No thistles, moss or houses, and only a black blob to show where ma-in-law was standing. |

There must be places where you can buy bleach which is the same stuff? I have to do our paving and roofs. Thanks Resene moss and mould killer. About $30 for a 4ltr which makes 24ltrs. You have to leave it 48 hours though. |

| 1301122 | 2012-09-16 01:18:00 | . The other way is to dig the thistles out. Indeed if you like doing it the hard way. Boiling water does the trick too, if you don't have too many. |

The last being quite expensive though seems to be very effective. Looked at bleach though would have to sort out the mixing rates so not to damage any surfaces nearby. |
