1327117 2013-02-09 00:31:00 Hey guys,

I have a Linksys X2000 Router + ADSL2+ modem and it only works when g.dmt is selected even though the Castor Bay (where i live) Exchange had an ADSL2+ upgrade in 2011 so the reports say and the website itself says my address should get 15 to 18Mbps. I max out at 6Mbps on Wireless N.

I used to get 12.12Mbps in Multimode selection but now if i select multimode or ADSL2+ the router wont connect to the DSL line.

All electronics connected to the line has splitters.

any help is much appreciated.

Alex

1327118 2013-02-09 00:53:00 I doubt that anyone is 'screwing you over'. And, IF anyone is, it won't be Telecom as the lines to your house belong to Chorus and what is inside the house is your problem.

The first thing to do is check the status page of your modem. You need to login and find that page. You are looking for speed up and down, SNR (signal to noise ratio) and Attenuation figures. Report these back.

1327119 2013-02-09 01:07:00 Since the upgrades to my nearest exchanged happened 2 years ago, Shouldnt the line be fixed for adsl2+ along with the cabnet exchange??

All i can find are
Status: Up
Downstream Rate: 6688 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 896 Kbps

this is on g.dmt, anything else causes the connection to drop, even though i have reached speeds of up to 12mbps before in Mixedmode.

there is no SNR anywhere.

the DSL connection is set up like so on Telecoms NON telecom router page:

Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoA

Multiplexing: VC

QoS Type: VBR

PCR: 0 cps

SCR: 0 cps

Autodetect: Disable

VPI: 0

VCI: 100

Enabled: Yes

PVC Status: Up

See the page says g.dmt but the exchange and my physical address says ADSL2+

1327120 2013-02-09 03:51:00 Whats the brand/model of the modem?? Is the firmware up to date on it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1327121 2013-02-09 04:50:00 Give Telecom a call and ask to speak to the guys in Complex Broadband - they're awesome at sorting out these types of issues. Don't accept talking to someone in Manila, push to speak with someone in NZ. johcar (6283)

Yes, I have rung them . I speak from experience . I had issues as described above by the OP, rang Telecom and got them sorted real quick - even had a Chorus guy on site here for two and a bit days . . .

1327124 2013-02-09 08:23:00 Yeah the Complex Broadband guys (Sorta a Teir 2 equivalent) are pretty switched on.

I'd suggest swapping out your router for a bit to rule that out, and potentially also changing your line filters. If you still have issues, then you can definitely point the finger at Telecom...

My post was for the OP not you, but I saw you had already given advice to ring, hence removed it.

1327126 2013-02-09 21:13:00 I would agree to what Chill says. I switch from Orcon to Telecom last week and found that my old Dynalink router was giving problems. It worked perfectly on Orcon's port.. Got one of Telecoms free Technicolor ones and all came well. I was told that the new line cards for ADSL2 don't play nice with old ADSL routers.. paulw (1826)
