Would like some help in how to copy files etc. from my desktop to the tablet.What cable do I need (if any) and any general tips. Am pretty ancient and not well up in computer use. | 1327031 | 2013-02-08 06:21:00 | You can't use the iPad like a big external drive or Flash drive. So to put anything on it you must "sync" as they call it, with iTunes. If you can't sync it with iTunes you can't copy it to the device, not directly anyway. Things like Contacts, Music, Pictures and Movies can be Synced with iTunes. Items such as word docs, folders and other media cannot be synced. In order to say, put a word doc on you would have to use a 3rd party application from the app store. Eg, dropbox. Dropbox would allow you to upload a folder to the "cloud" (basically online storage) and it would then sync with the iPad via the internet, downloading its information from "the cloud" If it's documents you want to edit, just use Skydrive (or Google Drive). You can use the skydrive application on your PC to update any changes on your computer and save the new document online, or you can edit directly online. With the ipad just go to the skydrive site, where you can edit and view your files. It's also really easy to share them that way too! |
