Personally I'd also go with the Raspberry Pi but if he's got an iPhone, chances are he wants simple and easy. Rpi might appear a little daunting up front. Give him the Rpi option, if he sticks his nose up let him know you might have a 2nd solution ;) What does he want to do though? Music? Video? Stream from his PC to His TV or Phone? Air play are just wireless speakers, you can stream music from iTunes or iDevice whereas the RPi can stream music too (provided you connect it to some speakers) but also do video and whole load of handy things. I can't remember what the latest pricing is but for a bundle it was about $50-$70 NZD (Raspberry Pi, wireless kb/mouse, power supply and a case [not sure if there was a case involved]) |

| 1326706 | 2013-02-06 02:34:00 | Thanks for the info, I think we were hoping for something off the shelf from one of the retailers the apple TV my be an option, As far as what he wants to do is stream video & music from a laptop through his HT amp Laptop is connected wireless. He has plans for some outdoor speakers and was hoping to control the music slection from his iPhone from outside on the deck. Cheers Wayne |
