1326647 2013-02-04 22:16:00 Hi,

I have recently installed this latest version and find I still have windows firewall going as well as ESET, ditto.
I have turned off W firewall-is this O K?

I recommend anyone who is going to v6, go via "update" not as I did to "website"---it brought all sorts of unnecessary demands, and fresh passwords etc.

Secondly, do the attributes of V6 negate the need for a separate malware program?-- to me it does, but-----?,by inference ESET will now do the lot

:nerd:

1326648 2013-02-04 22:19:00 Yeah you only need one firewall :)

When did v6 come out? I don't recall getting any email or whatever from them.... Strange!

1326649 2013-02-04 22:51:00 the V6 RC has been out for a few months now, and was stable.

The RTM or Final version came out roughly three weeks ago. Been using it since then on all the PC's here. Straight upgrade, downloaded the installer and let it run.

1326651 2013-02-04 23:23:00 Wont hurt to have other Antimalware programs - Something Like Super Antispyware or Spybot S&D.

NO antivirus will catch all infections - Some others claim to but fail badly = Starts with "N" ;)

All we have here, Eset Smart security, Super and Spybot. Run Ccleaner at the end of every day - Manually do Malware Scans once a week, and Eset is set to scan on Fridays while out doing the shopping.

Tried running several other anti-malware programs as a test, never find anything.

I dont bother with Malwarebytes as it often will miss infections that either Super or Spybot will detect. Only time I really use it is part of cleaning out customers PC's.

Classic example - Customers PC - ran Malwarebytes, that removed around 20, then ran Spybot & Super, between them they cleaned out a further 50+ Malwarebytes missed.

1326652 2013-02-04 23:58:00 Are you using Eset Smart Security or NOD32?
If just the NOD32 that is antivirus only so you would want the Windows Firewall on.
If it is Smart Security then that has a firewall included so Windows firewall should be off.

1326653 2013-02-05 00:06:00 Hi W T,

Thank you.

I cannot get antimalware to get past about 25% , (Queried this months ago ) so I run it and accept
"quick scan" which gets little or no results----- if I go for 'full scan",which nearly stops AFTER 25% scanned which suggests I could delete it with no penalty ;-

ESET is becoming better by the version

1326655 2013-02-05 22:04:00 Hi,W T,

Malwarebytes, several months ago was scanning the whole program in " quick scan" but when I tried to a "full scan" -it came to a near stop---at about 136,000 files,-it was still scanning but never found anything and was still going, but even leaving it scanning for 19 hours or more was still up to the above, out of 900000 files. It used to work perfectly in full scan
I asked F1 for advice and got no replies.
I uninstalled it using Vebo, getting all files left etc, I then started a virgin download, and it made no difference--hence my, this week's decision, to get rid of it (this, after my query on ESET v 6. I am now relying on ESET, superanti spyware, and search and destroy.

If you can get me past that 135000 level I might re install

Don't forget my personal e mail re ESET anti theft scan, setting please?

1326656 2013-02-06 03:18:00 For the anti theft you need to create an account with Eset, costs nothing.

or Disable it - kb.eset.com
