1326559 2013-02-04 21:19:00 Hi all, I need a master filter and I want to install myself to save a few dollars. Can anyone direct me with idiot proof instructions?
Here is a pic of the wiring in the telecom box on the outside of the house looks like and the the other pick is the master filter.

1326561 2013-02-04 21:40:00 The LINE wires to to the black cable coming in, Phone to the existing internal phone cable (white) and run a new line to this box to your ADSL modem, install a new wall socket.

This is the one I got because he includes the gel caps

There is a user on Geekzone, Coffeebaron I think his name is who will do an install for $150.

Thanks but was hoping to do it myself as $150 for a 30min job with a $25 filter seems a little excessive.
I've already bought a master filter.

1326563 2013-02-04 22:43:00 OK then you will need gel caps, cable and a phone socket and a socket crimping tool (sometimes come with the socket) :) Alex B (15479)

Thanks Alex B so with the filter that I'm using i'm still not sure which pairs of wire go where from the filter. Do you think you could explain it again...slowly ;) referring to my pics.
Thanks in advance

1326565 2013-02-04 23:04:00 Orange/white to LINE - The black cable with yellow and black wire
Green/white to MODEM - New wire to be installed
Blue/white to PHONE wiring - White cable with white and red.

Pretty sure they aren't polarity sensitive. But I'd do Orange to Yellow, Orange/White to Black, Green green, green/white to green/white, blue to red, blue/white to white.

1326566 2013-02-05 00:06:00 You don't have to install a new cable for the modem but it is recommended.
You could use two of the other wires in the white cable. EG: Green & black - doesn't really matter which two.

If you do that though the fun part will be finding and opening every phone jack in the house and finding out which one is the first in the chain as that is the one that will become your modem socket. If you don't want the modem at that socket then you need to start joining the pair of wires that you selected above until you get them working at the phone jack you want the modem at. You would then remove the red and white wires from the back of the socket and punch down the new pair of wires.

1326567 2013-02-05 00:45:00 All this talk of old colours. Up to date wiring usually only has blue/white and orange/white.

The basic Idea is all phone jacks need to be fed from the filters output and both the input to the filter and the wiring to the adsl jack connect directly to the phone line coming in from the cable.

The adsl jack is not actually filtered at all and doesn't need to be.
