| 112157 | 2003-01-09 01:34:00 | Now that I have a CD/RW drive, I want to preserve the contents of some valued LPs by transferring them to CDs. 1. Do I need any special software? 2. How do I connect my stereo system to my computer to enable the transfer? 3. Do I need a special cable? 4. Will I need to copy from the LP to the HD first, and subsequently burn a CD from the file on the HD? Your advice would be appreciated. Incidentally, I am a subscriber to NZ PC World. |

Some previous threads are as follows: Burning vinyl to CD (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) sound recording 1 (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) sound recording 2 (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) There are others but I can't find them at the moment. |

How do I connect my stereo system to my computer to enable the transfer? You will need to nonnect your stereo system the 'line in' on your sound card. >3. Do I need a special cable? You will need 3.5mm jack plug (stereo) for the 'line in' going to what ever come from your stereo.... 2 x RCA perhaps. Easily obtainable from www.dse >4. Will I need to copy from the LP to the HD first, and subsequently burn a CD from the file on the HD? Yes, that would be the best way. >Incidentally, I am a subscriber to NZ PC World PressF1 'helpers' are not affilated to PC World - we all like to help 'cos we're nice people..... erm..... mainly ;) |
