| 112181 | 2003-01-08 23:39:00 | Hi I know I posted a post saying that I've decided which video card that i was going to get in the " ATi Radeon 9000 video, would I be able to get the best out of it? " tread but after looking around on the net and read some reviews on some cards it seems to me that the Radeon 8500 is far more better the Radeon 9000 whether if it's Pro or not Pro. May I ask why? I know Radeon 8500 has more stuff for TV-In and TV-Out but other than that I don't see much difference between those two. There're both about the same price right now and I need a video card 95% time for games and the 5% of the time for animations and multimedia. Which would you recommand out of these 3: A 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9000Pro AGP Dual Heads DVI, TVout or... a 64MB DDR ATI Radeon 9000 AGP Dual Heads DVI, TVout or maybe... a 64MB DDR ATI Radeon 8500 AGP Dual Heads DVI, TVout My computer system: Duron 1.3Ghz, 384 PC133 SDRAM, Win98. p.s: what I meant by " I can't even get Delta Force 3 working properly " in " ATi Radeon 9000 video, would I be able to get the best out of it? " tread. Was that every game that I tried to play a game (using the onboard 32megs video chip(ProSavage 8)), I would need to set the video setting to run in OpenGL mod instead of a normal Direct 3D mod to actually play the game properly with out game errors. Where some games like Delta force 3 or Diablo 2, the game chooses the mod for you unlike UT or Deus Ex you can choose to use D3D, OpenGl or 3DFX etc. But other than that, games runs pretty good with the onboard video chip. Thanks alot :) Jase Sen |

| 112184 | 2003-01-09 08:15:00 | Not nessisarliy Chilling, the ATI Radeon 8500 is a faster card than either the ATI Radeon 9000 / 9000 Pro . What it comes down to is what the card is going to be used for . Neither of these cards are gonna pump out amazing frame rates but are still good preformers . If Jase intends to upgrade his vid card within the next 6months then he would be best off buying the ATI Radeon 8500 . But if intend to keep his vid card for a while and doesn't mind dropping a few FPS then the 9000 Pro is the best card . If you intend to use this graphics card with newer games such as UT2K3 and Doom III (they have big a$$ texture files over 64mb, when the texture files are larger than the video cards memory they are loaded to the system ram thus degrading preformance)then get the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro . But if you just wanna play "Delta force 3 or Diablo 2" then save yourself some cash and get the ATI Radeon 8500 Pro 64mb DDR RAM . It really does come down to how often one upgrade and how much you are willing to spend . ATI Radeon 8500 Pro 64Mb DDR RAM are cheap as chips at the moment and offer a good cost/preformance ratio . Well thats my 2cents worth P . S some friends of mine are get some Geforce 4 Ti4200 128Mb DDR RAM for $312 . If ya budget can stretch that far this card would set you up for a while . If your interested post back and i'l supply the name of the shop |
