| 112127 | 2003-01-08 21:38:00 | You can buy a special marker pen from a stationary shop. I use a vivid and it works just fine. Becareful to even out the words on the cd, as on very picky drives (esp cheaper cd players) it can be unbalanced and find it hard to start playing the disk. Felt pens are fine too, just don't use a hard tipped pen or pencil. | pmchapman (2942) | ||
| 112128 | 2003-01-08 21:39:00 | I use a Vivid marker and that does the job for me.. the only problem is when little pieces of hair and dust get caught in the nib,(which then get felt on them and will mark the CD by giving you double lettering) and you end up distorting the word you wanted to write in the first place :p CyberChuck |

| 112129 | 2003-01-08 21:41:00 | Have you guys ever tried writing on a CD and then putting it in a drive? I did that on an old stereo that was on its way out... Top loading... I put it in, turned it on and the ink began to run to the outside of the CD... None came off, and I wouldnt recommend it, but it was top loading, on its way out, and the end result was awesome! Just thought I'd share that piece of totally useless information with the great wide world :D ;) |

| 112130 | 2003-01-08 21:52:00 | As Chilling says, you need to make sure the ink is dry before you put the disc in the drive. I labelled a disc once, prior to recording it, then stuck it straight into the drive. Result - kaleidoscopic patterns :D. Cheers Miami |

| 112132 | 2003-01-09 01:19:00 | Is it not true that solvent-based markers will damage the CD? That's what I have read anyway . The type of pen I use is an OH marker pen which does the job well although it takes some time to dry enough not to smudge . You can also buy special CD marker pens from Dick Smiths in a pack of four colours . Price is comparable to ordinary marker pens . |

I have been useing an 'Artline 190 Pernament (permanent), with Dry safe ink' from Warehouse Stationery. Also used a non-permanent 'Staedtler' for my CD-RWs but the heat from the player 'cooked' the ink to become permanent. |
