112612 2003-01-10 05:00:00 recently everytime i download an email (with eudora) the whole pc goes to a crawl and i have to reboot (reset or pwr off). however if i disable ZAF it works fine. it only frezzes when nortons email protection starts. not to sure as yet exactly why its started doing it. i'm interested to see if anyone else is having problems with it. win98se and resources are ok. it started last week but somehow i managed to cure it but its come back. (and yes zaf mailsafe is off) tweak'e (174)

Sounds suspicious if you ask me -- something is not right somewhere.

112614 2003-01-10 21:37:00 My NAV 2003 email auto-protect works OK with Outpost or ZA, but .....

I have had quite a bit of trouble with NAV and firewalls. With my previous (very) old version of NAV I could not have auto-protect enabled as well as running a firewall (tried both ZA and Outpost) without freezes and BSOD's occuring during email downloading or general surfing.

When I got NAV 2003, I still got freezes but this was only during bootup and shutdown and it didn't effect my email downloading/surfing this time. Tried ZA again and it did the same with general auto-protect. Neither firewall had a problem with email auto-protect option.

By the process of elimination, I could only conclude it was the combination of NAV on auto-protect with Outpost or ZA loading on startup causing this.

Many people use the same combination of programs without any problems so it is a bit of a puzzle.

I now have Norton Personal Firewall installed so hopefully NAV will play nicer with its cousin.
