112631 2003-01-10 05:31:00 hey could anyone give me some tips on how to make a website look rather professional...

i'm using first page 2000

i need to make a site that is both basic yet professional with minimal graphics, have split it into two tables with the left panel a menu, somethings missing from it..i'm using times new roman as the main font, it looks home-made if you get what i'm saying, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Every wannabe webdesigner on PressF1 (including me) will give you their humble opinion.
Bit hard to help or offer advice unless we can have a look though.

112633 2003-01-10 05:59:00 Try to stick with a sans-serif font (with out curls). I find that websites look heaps better in Arial or Tahoma or similar. -=JM=- (16)

Out of the thousands of sites devoted to web design, this is still one of the best & easiest to understand

hotwired.lycos.com

& this one's not too bad either.

112637 2003-01-10 06:41:00 I just viewed your site with Mozilla 1.1

With this browser your green stripe down the left side of the page only comes out as far as the "b" in About. Your links also appear green. This results in all you links displaying as inks and the word Home as ome. You probably are not interested in how Mozilla displays your webpage, but I thought I would share this information with you anyway :D

I like simple sites with minimal, but well chosen images, and a limited colour palette selection - I think they look more professional that way. A good tip I learnt was to go and look at sites whose design/layout appeals to you and add those elements/styles to your site.

That's my 2c's worth :-)

112638 2003-01-10 06:56:00 It certainly doesn't seem to work well at a resolution of 1280*960 I get a green bar through the text on the right. -=JM=- (16)
112639 2003-01-10 07:10:00 hmmm how can i make it with the green strip down the side (which is the bg.jpg) and the white "a" at the top over lap and the "links" on the right of the the green strip not change in many resoloutions? tones_malones (611)
