| 112858 | 2003-01-11 06:35:00 | The type of RAM is largely determined by the Motherboard (where the RAM plugs into) on your PC . Can you access the box to see if its possible to determine this? You need the maker and the model . Unless its a "brand name" PC, in which case the name and model of the PC will turn something up here . You RAM is probably slow by todays standards, so the speed of new RAM is unlikely to be an issue, its usually OK to add faster memory, it will only run at the slower speed though . You do need to know if you have any slots spare . (at worst you could throw away the old stuff) |

| 112860 | 2003-01-12 00:51:00 | No, not easily. They would have used the most appropriate hardware at the time, so unless they can advise from their records you have a couple of choices. One is to simply take the box into a PC shop and ask them to supply and fit the RAM Another is to open the box, and try to ascertain the info yourself, then buy the RAM. I would use the first option if you are uncomfortable. |
