113310 2003-01-13 03:14:00 I do a lot of recording of sounds into my PC, and now that I'm slowly moving everything I do over to Linux, this was next on the list.

I am looking for an editor similar to GoldWave that'll let me record from line-in and save it as an MP3!

Thanks

BTW - Has anybody else noticed that with Lycoris Dekstop/LX that the version of ICQ used expects you to have your contacts stored locally?! Or have I missed a setting to geet them off the server somewhere?

Could just use ICQ2Go which requires a java-enabled browser. http://go.icq.com/

How about trying to get GoldWave to work with WINE if possible? If not there would be a lot of sound editors for linux.

113313 2003-01-13 05:29:00 Try freshmeat (http://freshmeat.net/) for new Linux applications. I did a search at this site for 'sound editor' and found 28 programs. Rod J (451)
113314 2003-01-14 02:16:00 Or try google with "sound recording linux". There are some good looking things there. Graham L (2)
113315 2003-01-14 02:33:00 I haven't tried it with recoding yet, but Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net) should work. bmason (508)
113316 2003-01-14 07:21:00 Have just started playing around with sound using the inbuilt tools in GNOME and with DAP (Digital Audio Processor).

There is a useful site at www.bright.net Dave Phillips has also written a book on using sound with Linux - see:
