113058 2003-01-12 01:29:00 If you go to Run and type "control userpasswords2", it brings up a different box than the one you can get to through control panel normally. Is there a way to get to this one without using the Run dialog? tango (2697)
113059 2003-01-12 02:35:00 Tango,

Right MouseClick on desktop
Select NEW| SHORTCUT
In the "Type the location of the item:" box put control userpasswords2
Click NEXT
In the "Type a name for this shortcut:" box put something like Manage Users
Click FINISH
If you want to change the icon of this short cut then Right MouseClick the new shortcut and select PROPERTIES | CHANGE ICON
Click OK to the Warning message box that appears
Select an appropriate icon from the %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll that is displayed and click OK

All done...

Cheers, Babe.

113062 2003-01-12 04:03:00 Tango, Just to give you an idea:

The Workgroup version (not available in domain environment) is control userpasswords and the Windows 2000/domain version is control userpasswords2

So if you WANT to put the previous Userpasswords in the Control Panel then you will would need to modify the System Registry

113063 2003-01-12 04:06:00 Tango, And what the heck for those WinXP Home users who want to do such things as modify the local Administrator name etc:

Because the Local Security Settings snap-in isn't available in Windows XP Home Edition, you can't use it to change the name of the Administrator account. However, you can change the user name by launching the Windows 2000-style User Accounts. At a command prompt, type control userpasswords2. Then select Administrator and click Properties. Be sure you change the user name, not the full name.
