114257 2003-01-16 00:37:00 I have an XP Pro pc, XP Pro laptop and W98SE pc all happily home-networked. Until recently, they were also sharing the XP pc's internet connection, which I'd set up by running the Home Network Wizard.

Now suddenly the internet sharing bit has died. The network's running fine, however. Re-running the Wizard results in a "Can't complete the process" error message. The issue seems to be the Network Bridge which has vanished, and can't be re-created either by the wizard, or manually : "An unexpected error occurred while configuring the Network Bridge"

Any ideas? Seems odd that it worked one day, then not the next. I'd suspect hardware failure (NIC / hub) but for the fact that the network is otherwise working fine...

Thanks!

114258 2003-01-16 00:39:00 Try system restore to a point when it was all working fine. crozier (2004)
114259 2003-01-16 00:48:00 Hey

If restoring your computer to a time when it was in it's happier days doesn't work, I would suggest removing ICS from XP - although I can't tell you how to do it, as I don't have XP myself, in Windows ME you go into the control panel > add/remove programs > Windows Setup > Communication > Internet Connection Sharing

Also, delete any Protocols that say Internet Connection Sharing from the Network Settings in Control Panel, reset, and then see if you can reinstall - if not, just do the opposite of what you did to get Internet Connection Sharing removed to bring it back, and it should bring back the protocols that it uses as well!

114262 2003-01-16 01:06:00 CarlH,
If system restore doesn't work and This (support.microsoft.com) is the problem you are referring to then try the suggestions in that KB article.
