114212 2003-01-15 21:58:00 What OS etc?
Depends if you want to do just do a scan or track down the problem (to eliminate it permanently?)
If you use Win98 or ME (maybe XP too) and just want the scan, do it with a bootup from the startup disk, which also has scandisk on it. :)

114213 2003-01-15 22:59:00 Isn't that a DOS based scandisk? - from memory, it was reccomended (with Windows95, not too sure about the other OS's) to use DOS Scandisk if necessary, then run Windows Scandisk as that was a whole lot more thorough, and could restore and sort out filesl
Speaking of Scandisk.. that's something I haven't done in a while :p

114214 2003-01-16 10:06:00 Search Google for a program called EndItAll. That will solve all your scan disk and defrag problems. Danger (287)
114215 2003-01-16 10:36:00 try setting a decent minimum swapfile size. this helps stops the swapfile from resizing and interupting scandisk/defrag. tweak'e (174)
