114059 2003-01-15 08:13:00 I have a slot A motherboard (according to the handbook), which seems to be faulty.

Looking on TradeMe, I see many slot 1's for sale but no slot A's.

Is slot 1 and slot A, one and the same by chance?

114060 2003-01-15 08:19:00 no. slot 1 is intel p2 and early p3 cpu while slot A is early amd athlon cpu. they are not interchangeable.

have a hunt around pc shops. someone may have a traded in one. otherwise get a new cpu and motherboard.

114061 2003-01-15 08:25:00 Im not sure if there's a difference between Socket A and Slot A, but my mobo is a Socket A, supports DDR and SD-RAM, bought from QMB for a bargain price, however I have been told it is a budget motherboard (Which is really fine as I was on a tight budget :-)
