114200 2003-01-16 03:38:00 it takes so long, because as i said, your codecs are corrputed, along with WMP.
YOu need to reinstall WMP. or restore to the point where everything was working fine.

I have had this problem with WMP before back in version 7. I reinstalled WMP and all was corrected

114201 2003-01-16 04:38:00 Me again. I had exactly the same issue, and posted Here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) .

In the end I went to the Control Panel / Display / Settings / Advanced / Troubleshoot, and moved the Hardware Acceleration Slider back one notch. It solved the problem, but bugged me as to why, and I was concerned that my games wouldn't play so well. After a few days I moved the slider right up to high again ... and movies still payed ok - go figure.

Maybe try this?

114204 2003-01-18 04:44:00 Download WMP from Microsofts site. It's as easy as that.
What version are you presently running?
