114555 2003-01-17 02:15:00 Can anyone tell me why the track listings on any CD's I play via Windows Media Player 8.0 are not correct? The Gathering Volume 3 CD is showing as being a collection of random songs which I have never heard of (and for sure aren't on the CD). The Big Day Out 00 CD that is on at the moment reckons its the Grammy Nominees 98 album.

I'm guessing it has something to do with a database being held by Microsoft created with the help of thousands of emotionally challenged monkeys? Can I do anything about it?

114556 2003-01-17 02:25:00 You can notify the SPCA and inform them that Microsoft is holding thousands of emotionally challenged monkeys hostage?

You could upgrade to Media Player 9.0 - which although still is in it's Beta stages last time I looked, has worked perfectly for the small amount of time I use it for.

Otherwise you could tell Windows Media Player not to get the track listings off the CD's so they will only appear as Track 1, Track 2 and so forth?

114557 2003-01-17 02:29:00 I would suggest WinAmp 3... It connects to the online free CDDB, whereas I think that MS have their own.... Chilling_Silence (9)
114558 2003-01-17 02:33:00 Yeah, I thought about WinAmp. Its always worked nicely at home, but I'm a bit limited as to what I can install on my work PC unfortunately. Might download it at home, virus scan it, chuck it on CD and load it next week.

P.S The monkeys probably enjoy it. Well, they probably think they do, anyway.

114559 2003-01-17 02:39:00 Haven't you ever seen those ads on TV - where you ring up and sponser $1 per day to save the bear from having a ring through it's nose, and been forced to dance all day? - well there's another series coming out soon - where it's the monkey's who are forced to work! cyberchuck (173)

But you see, its worse than that. They're forced to work for Microsoft, typing away all day and all night to satisfy the growing demand for incorrect track listings in Media Player. So sad.
