That's true, but then if it is a faulty stick of ram, hopefully removing that stick and rebooting will allow Windows to automatically restore the registry.

Running intensive 3d games also tends to bring up errors in memory. I could even install Windows from scratch, but upon the final "saving settings" I would get the BSOD... had me scratching my head for a while, until I removed the ram and got it running sweetly...

114622 2003-01-18 11:54:00 My old stick of ram is still in there with my new stick and ive already tried running it with just the old stick and just the new stick and no luck! unknown (2981)
114623 2003-01-18 21:49:00 Ok, probably not the RAM then - no worries.

If you can boot to DOS, either from the win98 startup menu, or using a boot disk, use that scanreg tool I mentioned above and try to fix the registry. If that doesn't work, you're in for a lengthy re-install.

114624 2003-01-18 23:25:00 That being the case, I've had a case where my ram permanently screwed my registry... had to delete it!

Try this (www.tekguide.net) reinstallation guide which will allow you to keep all your important data, etc...

Hope it helps.
