114442 2003-01-16 20:21:00 Just wondering if anyone has ever come across this problem before:

Have installed the latest nVidia drivers (41.09) on Win98 PC.
All installed OK but when I go to the Settings tab in Display properties I get an illegal operation:

RUNDLL32 has caused a general protection fault in module NVMODE.DLL

Removing and installing any earlier versions doesn't fix it.

Any ideas?
Cheers

114443 2003-01-16 20:22:00 Sorry, forgot to say that a search in google for this error gets no results! CYaBro (73)
114444 2003-01-16 20:44:00 Did you uninstall the previous Nvidia drivers before installing the new ones? Nvidia drivers have a rep for not unistalling completely. You can get a utility called Detonator Destroyer (www.guru3d.com) that helps clean out the old drivers. It is best to uninstall the existing drivers completely, changing you driver setup to the standard Windows VGA driver, before installing the new Nvidia drivers. Biggles (121)
114445 2003-01-16 20:45:00 Don't worry! It's fixed. Don't know why?? ?:|
All I did was remove the driver I had installed (30.82 I think it was) and reinstalled the latest again (41.09) and it's working now!

Thanks anyway.

114446 2003-01-16 21:36:00 Err.. Yeah, They reccommend that you remove your previous driver before installing the new ones at setup.. They even warn you to abort the setup, do that, then start the update over again :)

However, there have been reports of errors with the 41.09 on some OS's... Works for me though :)

114447 2003-01-16 22:02:00 Ya 41.09 is working fine for me too - on WinME Biggles (121)
114448 2003-01-16 22:14:00 I believe that the errors/driver faults have been mainly on Windows XP, which has Driver Rollback, so they have it easy.

I have also heard some people running 98 complain about it too though.

Do those Detonator drivers work on 95? (Just curious!?)
