| 114969 | 2003-01-18 08:19:00 | I've been trying to get the scanner working on a friends computer and i got an error message . I checked up on the cannon website and got this answer . Error code 0x00070800 appears Description An error code 0x0070800 appears when trying to use the scanner Resolution This error indicates that there is no communication between the scanner and pc . Please check the following: 1 . Switch off PC and Scanner . Disconnect and reconnect the parallel connection cable . 2 . Check the "Parallel port mode" on PC . Scanners require that the Parallel port on the PC is set to operate bidirectionally . This setting is changed in the PC's "BIOS" menu . If you are not sure how to access this menu, please check with your PC supplier or manufacturer . 3 . If possible, test the Scanner on another PC to assist in isolating the cause of the problem . In some cases, the port on the PC may not be functioning . I would like to know if some one can tell me how to go about doing this? . I'm running windows 98 . Thanks . |

| 114970 | 2003-01-18 09:52:00 | You have to know if it is USB or parallel port scanner. Canon thinks it is paralell so you need to get into the BIOS during startup by pressing delete or F1 or F2 or F10 depending on your PC model There is usually a message saying how to get into the BIOS. If you see starting Windows 98 then you have missed your opportunity Once in - tab through the settings until you find the parallel port setting and change it as they recommend. Write down what it was and how you got there so that if it doesn't work, you can change it back |
