115543 2003-01-20 23:48:00 I have renamed the "My Documents" folder to "1Data" to always appear at the top of the directory tree in the File Manager.
On Windows 2000 computer, the 1Data folder appears as the first folder directly below the top Desktop folder, and before the My Computer folder - which is exactly as required.
On Windows XP computer, the My Computer folder appears first (directly below Desktop), followed by the 1Data folder.

How to change the order of these two folders on WIN XP to match the preferred order, as displayed on WIN 2000 ?
Which registry settings need to be altered to achieve this ?

115544 2003-01-21 00:10:00 That's not how it is on my Windows XP PC. On mine the 'My Documents' folder is displayed directly below 'Desktop' as it is in Windows 2000.

I know with the XP Powertoys there is an option to display the 'My Computer' folder first on the desktop and maybe this changes the order in 'Windows Explorer' as well. Have you done this maybe??

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
PowerToys XP must have swapped them over when I renamed the folder to 1Data.
Yes, the required setting is in the First Icon setup screen under Desktop in PowerToys XP.

115546 2008-04-16 15:58:00 I love google, and I love you guys!

I have been living with the same problem for a long time.....

I finally googled
explorer "my documents" order "my computer"

and this thread came up as the first link. Simple solution!

Just to clarify.....once you install PowerToys, the module for making this change is called TweakUI.
