115195 2003-01-19 06:39:00 I need to buy a replacement CD writer, which brand/model is worth my money, I was never happy with the Acer ( 10x8x32 ), it used to play up a bit.
I will spend good money to get a good product.

115196 2003-01-19 06:46:00 Noel Leeming have the BTC (with Nero) 16x10x40 on special for $99.

You will probably find that Bond&Bond and BigByte have it on special as well.

115197 2003-01-19 07:11:00 I like my Lite-On 24x10x40 burner and there are faster ones out now (for probably cheaper than I paid :-().

Another brand others like is Aopen. As far as I know both come with Nero, which is good.

Acer/Benq is one brand which hasn't had favourable reports from people here. You will find the threads if you do a search for Benq.

That would defineately be the way to go........ sometimes if the writer is on the slow side it means less coasters

Where did you see it advertised Bill

115202 2003-01-19 09:05:00 Bill is correct, Check with PriceSpy shows it is only just under 200 including GST from QMB Computers. ~~~~~ s y ~~~~~ (2054)
115203 2003-01-19 09:23:00 I use a samsung 40x12x40x cost about $100. Has an 8MB buffer as opposed to most others that have 2MB. Havn't had any problems yet. Some people have had problems with Benq. But in the same token many people have spoken highly of it. Infact i think there is only one person who has had problem with Benq. He's had like 3 of them and they have all been crap. or something along those lines. YOur best to do a search thru the pressf1 archives to find out info roofus (483)
