| 115714 | 2003-01-22 11:08:00 | If crozier feels it's his job to lecture people about language, so be it. Perhaps a link somewhere in your Favourites, or on your desktop, pointing to the search page with a search for various profanities during the last 7 days would do. And as for trying to keep your daughter from seeing profanities and other nasty language or behaviour... have you ever watched the beginning of Kindergarten Cop, where Scharzenagger walks into the classroom and one little boy stands up and tells him the anatomics of boys and girls? Sure, it's a movie, and it's scripted, but really, the knowledge of that in kids as young (from memory about 5) as that, is, to be honest, quite true. And it's not long into primary school before kids find out about much worse things. |

Perhaps we have some sort of cultural devide here? Moron = "A person of mild mental retardation having a mental age of from 7 to 12 years and generally having communication and social skills enabling some degree of academic or vocational education. " I would say that you are both communication and social skills of a 7 to 12 year old! |

Last line is priceless... Shouldn't that read... "You have both the communication and social skills of a 7 to 12 year old." :^O Now who is the moron? :) Lo. |

Sure, it's a movie, and it's scripted, but really, the knowledge of that in kids as young (from memory about 5) as that, is, to be honest, quite true. And it's not long into primary school before kids find out about much worse things. Ever since my daughter started at Play Centre I've been upset with parents who insist on treating young children as you adults. One woman sat her 5 and 3 year olds down to watch a series of videos on sex education! They know all the words for all the parts of the body - both the proper words and the slang. They know how babies are made. Why does this annoy me? Because kids show off their new words and new knoweledge, we can't watch my daughter all the time and monitor what other kids are saying, so it didn't take long before she was using the words and had to be taught not to. My point is that I should be able to choose what she learns. I believe that kids should grow op at a slower pace than most of you do. Agent, you're not a parent - in fact you're little more than a child yourself. So I don't expect you to understand the difficulties of raising kids. But it's not just about protecting her! I find the use of such language on this kind of forum to be offensive too, I just don't like to see it! As to 'young adults' now being able to handle their CDs correctly, well my daughter taught her mother how to boot the PC and load a CD rom correctly at the age of 18 months! Why? beacause I taught her how. If you guys can't look after you stuff it's hardly the fault of the manufacturer. But I didn't at any stage say that copying you own CDs was bad - I said it's illegal in NZ and, as such, the discussion doesn't belong here. IDG have done a great job in setting up and running this forum, it would be a great shame if it degenerated onto the type of forum that decent people would feel uncomfortable with. I won't be posting here again while I see it as unsuitable for family surfing. |

Could do - Only if I put the out of reach of the 4y.o. then the 7y.o. who is size challenged in the height department (Not too much, but one is tall and the older one is short) then he cant get them and he can take care of them :-) > Or would that be too much like using your > intelligence? Me? Intelligence??? You must have the wrong guy ;-) |

At times you did provide good information crozier, but your stuborn views and inability to understand other peoples views has resulted in you getting very upset. Unfortunate, but hey we can't please everyone. I'd also like to note, this is a very intense thread and is nothing like what other pressf1 threads are like. So your going to viewing pressf1 because of 1 intense thread out of 30370? |

| 115721 | 2003-01-22 21:09:00 | Id just like to direct a few comments to crozier 1. If you dont like the discussion then LEAVE. 2. There was NOT a problem before you entered this discussion. 3. YOU are only inflaming the discussion. 4. YOU will NOT convince people otherwise, arguing the point is pointless , you are only making enemies NOT friends by continuing to argue the point. 5. YOU have the right to think you opinion, you have the right to voice your opinion, you DO NOT have the right to try to force you opinion on other people. Cheers Liam |
