| 115512 | 2003-05-13 02:31:00 | Sleep modes are funny things and its is very hard to explain in a forum as there are so many variables. If you were to ask the veterans around here 90% would say don't use sleep mode as there are so many problems. Personally i have problems with hibernation due to a USB device, so i use STR which is also quicker (and is i guess what you have been using ) STR = Suspend to RAM My suggestion is that if you like it so much pay $30 - $50 for a computer guy to fix it for you. |

| 115513 | 2003-05-13 03:16:00 | As roofus has stated there are many variables that can affect sleep mode. It does not perform in any stable way for me on 3 of my (different) PCs. Only one (laptop) seems to tolerate it, and then only providing no software was running at the time it was put into sleep mode. In analysing the issues, they tended to be related to software that does not like being put into sleep mode, on awakening the PCs would all give different symptoms but it made them very unstable. Sometimes random crashes would occur well after the computer awoke, and would never crash after a reboot, providing sleep had not been induced. Simply put, in my case sleep mode was a luxury I could do without, as it was wasting more time than it was saving. |
