115642 2003-01-22 02:25:00 how come does pressf1 get stuffed up so much?, its not like its a high volume forum or nothing, so whats happening?,

Quanitfy "so much"? And actually, PF1 is a fairly high volume forum although with the new software traffic as never been a factor in any problem we've had except that it means someone always notices when there is a prblem :-)

115644 2003-01-22 02:33:00 At our end it wasn't down - at least not that we can see. How often has this occurred in thelast month say? Biggles (121)

It was down for the night, (CF1 was full of new people asking if it was down) The errors i was getting were time out ones.

Every other time it has been down, you have been aware of it, and some kind of oops/explanantion post has confirmed this

115646 2003-01-22 02:51:00 That points to a spider. At our end the server didn't go down - there's no log record of that and no one here had to restart in the morning. If the server had crashed we would have had to restart. So that likely means that it was "technically" not down - ie all it's resources were being soaked up by a spider. Which is a right pain if it's the case. We'll check the log activity from 6pm. Biggles (121)

115648 2003-01-22 06:14:00 The server was still responding to pings. -=JM=- (16)
115649 2003-01-22 06:44:00 About the preveiw post problem, a wee while ago i spellchecked a post, went to edit it, found myself at a log-in screen that wouldn't except my password "for this action", went back, repeated the proceedure several times, copied the text, went back to forum home.
I then navigated to "reply" on the post in question, and replied without problem.

The second time i did not attempt to use the spell check.

I just had problems too - after preview (not spellcheck) I couldn't post because I was not authorised to take that action! :_|

It showed me as being still logged in, but presented me with the login box again . Going back and forward, and trying again didn't work either(remembered to copy my post to notepad on one of the passes) . Only once my post box reappeared empty, was I able to copy back my post and then post successfully without previewing it this time .

No way am I going to preview this post first!

Heres a screenshot of exsactly the sort of carryon that PF1 was doing just before it fell over ( or appeared to) the only trouble is that this was taken a few minutes ago .
