115633 2003-01-21 21:49:00 I wonder if there is any chance of the gnomes giving the reason for the downtime? Rumour has it there were some brownouts, and then there's the one about Bruce's big feet...... but are the rumours true.....?? What really sank the ship?? Susan B (19)

This can also be referred to as IDG been on a budget when they bought their network cables, so instead of running across the floor, they've been stretched from one computer to the next and are suspended above ground - this also doubles as their burglar alarmas it's a very delicate process walking between all these cables and not standing on them!

115636 2003-01-22 00:46:00 I don't know. It doesn't bother me much. I have a life. :D

It happens that sites go down from time to time.

If it is a moneymaking site, essential to the survival of a company, it will have automatic checks, and messages will be sent to people to fix it. If it's a low-budget operation like PressF1, it will be fixed when someone notices. That will usually mean the next morning. Would you want to get out of bed and go in to reboot a server?

115639 2003-01-22 02:06:00 Hmmm.... Now that's interesting.. The third time its happened today...

Go preview when posting and then try and post it and it comes up complaining that Im not autorised to post on Pf1 - Please login...

I dont wanna login - I already am!

I click back 2x and get back to the message and hit post as per normal (Not previewing this time) and it works fine!

Anybody else having this?

115641 2003-01-22 02:21:00 As far as we can see the server never went down so whatever the loss in connection was it somewhere else . Mystery to us at the moment . . . Biggles (121)
