| 115742 | 2003-01-23 06:34:00 | In ACTUAL fact, copying licensed software is not illegal, per se. It's unlawful, sure. But the subtle difference is that the police won't prosecute you for having broken any NZ law - there is none, at this time. It's in fact a civil matter, that the copyright owner will be able to prosecute over, and if the copier has been found guilty in a civil case, will be able to claim compensation. My comment isn't directed specifically at Crozier, but it's the first comment in this lengthy debate that looked appropriate to respond to. |

| 115744 | 2003-01-23 06:52:00 | Just have to add.... that many of the fine folk on here have inflamed this "legality" side of the issue to too much of a degree, that it's put a great user/contributor (Crozier) into a situation where he's become ostracised from the others. This seems unfair in the extreme. |

I Have to agree with Greg S. I've been visiting this site for a few months now, I haven't posted before because I haven't had anything to say. That being said I've gleaned a lot of really useful tips from several people here, crozier being one of them. It seems unfair that a bunch of you deemed it fair to pick on him, after all he was just sticking up for what he believed in. It seems that the only points he was trying to make were that this isn't really the best place to discuss illegally (perhaps) copying games and that is really ucool to use bad language on a site like this. Perhaps his idea of bad language is a bit more narrow minded than most of us, but some people (childishly) appear to have "got off' on baiting him - really uncool! The pack of wolves that attacked him appeared unwilling to see any other point of view even though they were insistant in making him see theirs. It's the sort of thing you'd expect to see on New York streets after dark, not on a magazine help forum. I once heard the internet described as a modern day 'wild west', that's certainly apparant here. It would seem that he has left the forum, and I don't blame him. Those of you responsible will probably still sleep at night, but I hope that as you go through life you will learn a bit of compassion for your fellow man. Goodbye crozier, and thanks. |

| 115747 | 2003-01-25 22:07:00 | I'm not going to argue each of yoru points fat and bald, as they have generally been discussed earlier. We did not try to push our views onto crozier, rather the other way around. We never asked him to continuously argue his point of view in this thread. As i said very early on, this thread is about backing up my game not about swearing, politics. But corizer continued on with it. I think if you have a look through the the thousands of threads here that both Loshing and I are well grounded members that have provided much valuable information to people. If you also have a look through posts made by crozier, you will know he is very quick to jump on an attack stance. As you will see in a new thread created by loshing himself about 5 days ago, we discussed exactly what is swearing as Loshing didn't think bollocks was swearing and neither did a few others. We can only learn from our mistakes. I too had been accused of bad lanugage from cyberchuck for using the word "Crappy" but if you read this swearing thread you will see that most people here consider that OK, but obviously you wouldn't go posting it in every thread you make. |

Firstly I'd like to say I TOTALLY AGREE with everything roofus said above. Looking at this thread from an objective point of view it is plainley obvious what happened; crozier joined the party, poured perol on it, lit a match, and then blamed the other party go-ers because he got burnt. I mean you wouldent go into a mac forum and tell them that PCs's were the only way, then continue to argue the point, and finally blame everyoen else bacause you were a victim of you own actions, now would you. Further more I dont believe that your daughters, playschool's, children's, parent's sex education videos should be part of a discussion about digital signatures and encrypted files on CD-ROM'S, they really dont go hand in hand. I'd also like to point out that there is nothing wrong with saying I'm going to drive my car at 101 kmph on the motorway, just like there is nothing illegal about asking how the copy protection on a CDROM works. Aside from all this I did lean a bit about how CDROM copy protection works, (by using digital a signature embedded on the disk during manufacturing, which is then used to decrypt the data on the CD when it is used). | 115749 | 2003-01-28 02:37:00 | That's about the sort of reply I thought I'd get from NZ_Liam & Roofus. You're both extremely one-eyed and totally unable to admit to your own faults. It's amazing that you're both so eager to point out other peoples faults but completely unwilling to acknowledge your own. I do not believe that crozier tried to 'force' his views on anyone intially, but he was immediately attacked by both roofus & lohsing which left him no option but to defend himseld. I personally mourn to lose of crozier to this site and hope that he comes back at some point. |

Geez... will you let it go already?? His first post to this thread was an immediate forcing of his views upon us all. As far as I was concerned, there are an equal number of people who are on both camps. We've dealt with this, and trying to inflame the situation any further will do no one any good. I resent the suggestion that I have "attacked" crozier. Also, I think PF1 is pretty sick that this has carried on as long as it has. If you really "mourn" the loss of Crozier, how about starting another thread expressing those views so others can contribute in a positive way? That said, you should include SoniKalien in there too. He always had something good to say. Lo. |

I'm sure you do, but you only have to read what you posted to see that it was an attack by you on crozier . he made a simple comment about because he seemed to think that your posts were inappropriate and you got upset about it and attacked him with your foul mouth . Personally I don't think anythink is wrong with the word bollocks - but I agree with him that it was unnecessary . You're a bully, lohsing, roffus is just a dolt that followed you . But you're the bully! I bet you celebrated when he capitulated . >how about starting another thread expressing those views so others can contribute in a positive way? Why start another thread?
