115957 2003-01-22 06:17:00 Hmmm... depends on your budget and current system I'd say... check out Pricespy (http://www.pricespy.co.nz) for a list of writers.

Currently CTech PC (www.ctechpc.co.nz) have an Asus 40X writer for $118 + GST... Awesome writer, and it's very cheap too...

115959 2003-01-22 09:33:00 You're looking for a LiteOn cdwriter. High quality that matches that of plextor at low factory prices.

You can get a 48x writer for under $200 which is quite good, for information go to http://www.tomshardware.com

115960 2003-01-22 13:32:00 The best place that I seen is www.ebazaar.co.nz and I have seen that brand new writer gone for about $90 in there (it is auctoin and classified site). also you may buy a full working pentium machine with monitor for $72 (this price is based on my bid for PII desktop with 15" digital monitor and 64Meg and I was the winner & CD!), lots of bargain there and better than biggy auction site. my mate got a DELL 17" trinitron in best condition for $100 and finaly I am happy you put neg feedback in here if I am not right. 115961 2003-01-23 23:00:00 Thanks everyone for your help, I'm thinking of buying the Asus CRW-4816A. I wanted to get a lite-on but costs too much for my budget.

115962 2003-01-24 02:27:00 No problems with the Asus... it fully rocks, and trust me that you won't be disappointed!

Best of luck with it.

115963 2003-01-24 08:22:00 I just checked out Pricespy and Lite-on was $5.50 CHEAPER than Asus?? If you don't want to buy on the net you can always try your local supplier and say you saw it on the net for $... can he match that? Rod ger (316)
