| 115782 | 2003-01-21 22:56:00 | Dear Folks, I import a lot of articles from email (Pegasus 4) to Word (Office 2000) for posting on the Web (I know real Web authors don't use Word, but I'm just an amateur). Trouble is, when I import text from Pegasus, it seems to retain its line-length formatting - in other words, lines finish where they finished in the email programme, despite there being plenty of room on the line for more text. When this goes up on the web, it looks very messy, especially when different browsers and screen resolutions are used, breaking up the lines even more. So I have to go through each article, line by line, deleting the invisible carriage returns and substituting spaces. Is there an easier or faster way to do this? I've tried Word's "find & replace" facility, using both "return" (ie enter) and "^l" (caret, lower case L), but it's no good. It doesn't find the line breaks. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. Yours, Joe Davies |

See Word Find&Replace (www.sal.neoburn.net) for an example of what to use within find/replace {special options}. Hope this helps in resolving or at least putting you on the right track. Cheers, Babe. |

In the Replace with box, tap the space bar once. Then click on Replace All. You will have to go back and press Enter where you want paragraphs to appear. I use Pegasus too and get rid of the paragraph marks that way. Oxie |

If you switch on the normally non-displaying characters in Word (click on the end-of-paragraph marker in the toolbar) it may help. |
