116037 2003-01-22 21:00:00 I'm building up an address book on Sam my Linux box. Now this is where it gets tricky. When i dicovered i had 2 "johns" i decided i should rename them, adding the last name in the "file as" feild. For my next trick i discovered that next time i opened KAddressBook i was back to having 2 Johns filed as "john" and "john" again. I changed it again and tried the wee icon that looked like save, it was "sync" and promptly undid all my changes.
So far the only way that i have found of getting it right is to make an entirely new entry, and delete the old. Is there a better way?

OK... i'm wrong, even deleting the old entry and making a new one doesnt work. If i log out and log back in, the listing has done the "sync" thing (see above) and reverted back to its original form.

Me confused!

116039 2003-01-24 01:21:00 Would the KAddress Handbook (docs.kde.org) help, perhaps?

I see that it imports/exports address books, and "works with other KDE components such as KMail". The "sync" probably makes sure that all address books have the same information. Maybe (from my total ignorance, ;-)) you should change the addressbook in KMail, then use KAddressbook to synchronise it, and any others with KMail. ?

KAddressBook IS the address book that KMail uses..Atleast its the window that opens when you save an address.... I'll have a look at that page, and hopefully figure it out soon.

Thanks
