1328010 2013-02-14 02:51:00 HP Pavilion Desktop 061 A1140A Windows XP SP3. I can log in and the computer gets as far as loading the desktop icons but no Start etc along the bottom, just a busy icon. It loads ok in Safe Mode (networking). Thanks for any suggestions. bellbird (6169)

1328012 2013-02-14 03:33:00 I've tried again and it has loaded ok so I'll run scans and then come back and check the forum for any suggestions of what may have caused it to not load and what to do if it happens again. Thanks

Have I copy and pasted the right thing Speedy? I ran a full SuperAntiSpyware scan and quick scans of Spybot and Malwarebytes they came up clean. 		bellbird (6169)
1328015 2013-02-16 20:49:00 There were 6 MS updates the day prior to the problem starting so I wonder if they caused a glitch. Anyway it seems to have resolved itself now. Do you see anything in the above that might need fixing Speedy? bellbird (6169)

The symptom seems like explorer.exe may have crashed and it's now resolved itself. Usually if explorer.exe does crash it's suppose to reload itself if it can.

You can even test it out by forcing explorer.exe to end and see if it looks the same as what it was before, if it does not reload, just press Windows Key+R and type explorer and it'll load back up although some desktop items, maybe in the tray won't be visible so you'll just restart to get it back to normal or get into Task Manager and run explorer.exe again.
