1327540 2013-02-11 21:33:00 Currently my emails are all backed up \ saved in Outlook Express DBX files.

Is there a better or "best" format for compatibility between programs etc?

1327541 2013-02-11 23:04:00 With Outlook Express: you really have no choice
Make sure you backup the address book as well, WAB, PAB??

Outlook really is the Default standard . A single PST contains mail, attatchments & contacts/address book.
Far better to use Outlook, PST is unlikely to be obseleted anytime soon. Outlook PST is also by far the
easiest to transfer to new PC's with new Win versions that no longer support Outlook Express.
***Note that Outlooks AUTOCOMPLETE is not your adress book or saved contacts. Autocomplete can & does sometimes
become corrupted & all those email adresses can be lost of not saved in contacts, were they should be (had to explain this soo many times to various users)

Any other email program is fine, untill you find you cant actually export/import those emails & contacts into a different email program.

Then they are available in any email program, (and can be stored as plain text individual files with Maildir storage).

1327543 2013-02-12 02:04:00 I create client folders in Outlook for all emails and backup those as clients.pst files which has been very helpful over the last 6-8 years. Very easy to open in Outlook in case it is needed.:2cents: notechyet (4479)
1327544 2013-02-12 05:44:00 Emails...hmmm. I really don't like emails saved as emails.
Contacts, fine.
Emails? If the info is so important save it as a file and backup as usual.
