LOL they reserve the right to decline to close your own account!
Never noticed that before :)

3.3 Termination of membership: Trade Me reserves the right to decline to register or to terminate your membership without entering into further discussions with you. Without limiting the foregoing, Trade Me may terminate your membership if a serious complaint or multiple complaints are received about you from other members, if you breach these terms and conditions, if you impersonate another member, or if we, at our sole discretion, deem your behaviour to be unacceptable. Members who have registered under multiple aliases will have all of their aliases disabled. In the event of termination, you also agree that you will not open or attempt to open any new Trade Me memberships. You may at any time close your Trade Me membership by giving us three days' notice in writing. If you close your membership, or if it is terminated by Trade Me, your ability to use the Trade Me website will end. To the extent that you continue to access the site, clauses 2.2-2.5, 4.1 and 6.8 of these terms continue to apply.

1327326 2013-02-10 01:22:00 Why bother? Just let it lapse... pctek (84)
1327327 2013-02-10 02:21:00 And if it's an auction you want to delete rather than an account just change it to some ridiculous price because cancelling it is technically aginst the terms and they charge you to do it.
I use trademe a bit but I'm starting to get very annoyed at the charges, I think they should cap them at a maximum. It's not like there's any difference in cost to them between a $5 auction and a $5000 one

1327328 2013-02-10 03:13:00 Yeah I noticed the price too. Jumped on, sold a phone for $680, suffered $30 worth of success fees :-/

However, listed an identical one on Sella, same prices, it's had 6 views in like 3-4 days now :(

well firstly, I think it take's a veeeeery long time to actualy lapse

second - what if he happens to have a reasonable credit balance, and wants it back?

I don't know how we get more people to check out Sella - I have the same issues - list items on both sites and get heaps of views on TradeMe and bugger all on Sella even though the exact same item is generally 5-10% cheaper on Sella due to the ever increasing fees charged on TradeMe.

Surely there's gotta be a tipping point.
