1327240 2013-02-09 12:06:00 Just found a 'stuck pixel' on my 2 year-old Dell 24" monitor. Googled and found some DIY fixes. Has any one here ever used those DIY methods to fix a stuck pixel?

Cheers

1327241 2013-02-09 22:04:00 I've tried and failed to fix stuck pixels.

Techniques range from flashing various colours to the screen (beware inducing epileptic fit) and manually indenting the screen over the pixel.

As the problem wasn't on my own monitor I stopped short of the more aggressive techniques.

1327242 2013-02-09 23:12:00 What do you call a "stuck pixel"? Is that what I call a "Bright Pixel" when there is one pixel that remains just one colour? Iantech (16386)
1327243 2013-02-10 01:25:00 I had trouble with several stuck pixels on an old Viewsonic monitor some time ago. I also assume you mean a "bright pixel". It would display pixels of different colours that would persist for a while. I used to poke them with my finger quite firmly and they would usually unstick themselves (I never pressed too hard though, you don't want to do more harm than good).

Later on I had several dead pixels on this monitor which I couldn't revive with any technique I tried.

1327244 2013-02-10 02:01:00 BTW, the dead pixels I had trouble with later I'm pretty sure weren't where the bright pixels were before ... at least I think so! Rod J (451)

Yes. It's a bright pixel.

Dell has a 3 years warranty, right? Does it cover problem of this nature?

1327246 2013-02-10 02:52:00 You'd have to read the fine print.

I think it depends on whether there is a close group of problem pixels (especially in the centre zone of the screen) and dead pixels would be considered more problematic than just bright pixels I guess.
