| 1327956 | 2013-02-14 00:14:00 | My win8 and WMC were the cheap/free downloads late last year to upgrade my Win 7. The Win 7 was an OEM version, though. But the call centre idiots didn't have a clue what I was talking about, let alone find out whether I was allowed to re-activate or not. It's so darn frustrating not being able to speak to someone who understands about re-activation and it certainly doesn't reflect well on MS letting idiots represent them. I'm going to be more than a bit hacked off if I have to buy another Win 8 plus WMC. |

| 1327957 | 2013-02-14 00:32:00 | Well, I tried the 0800 800004 again and got a very nice American woman who just went straight ahead and gave me the numbers to enter without even asking why I needed to reactivate. Very swift and efficient like the last time I had to do it. So, there you go. Two attempts with totally different experiences. I guess you just hang up and try later if you get a nincompoop first time. Maybe a time zone problem??? Feel much happier!!!! Sorry MS for rant. |

I use the same tactic on the Telecom (and other) call centers. No use trying to make the clowns understand what you're talking about. Just say thanks, hang up, try again in five minutes and you usually get someone who actually knows. |

Had it happen several times, if its not on their "list of fixes" you may as well be talking to the wall. So you ask to be put to someone else higher up, or ring back later and get someone who knows how to think out the box. Had several occasion I've had to tell them what the problem is and how to fix it - but of course don't have access to the MS computers to allow the fixes to be sorted ( re-activation etc) |

| 1327961 | 2013-02-14 04:58:00 | The internal knowledgebase article that they should be looking at tells them exactly what to say, how to ask it, how to fix this problem i just looked it up myself and read it, it's quite clear to me at least if anyone has their case #s, i can do some work to improve this in the future |

| 1327962 | 2013-02-14 05:04:00 | You generally know how the call is going to go when you ring up, the person answers and you introduce yourself, something ike this -- Hi this is <insert your name> I'm having a problem with <insert Problem> The first thing they say is Can I have your name please ---------- You think to yourself ---- Errrrrrr I just gave it to you, :groan: |

| 1327964 | 2013-02-15 03:18:00 | My win8 and WMC were the cheap/free downloads late last year to upgrade my Win 7. The Win 7 was an OEM version, though. So Its an OEM & an upgrade from an OEM License wise & as far as MS is concerned, the original Win7 cant be installed on the new system, therefore Win8 upgrade cant be installed on the new system. So the call centre may have realised you cant do it , & perhaps they , (& you) didnt explain things very well. |
