| 1327396 | 2013-02-10 22:04:00 | Hi All It might be a dumb question; has anyone heard or seen any hints if our largest supplier is going to offer naked broadband in the near future? I have asked the call center some year or so ago and the answer was no. It might have changed? |

| 1327397 | 2013-02-10 22:34:00 | Nope, Telecom don't do Naked DSL, nor are they likely to any time soon. I do however know that Telecom have begun to offer SIP (At least to businesses), I'm presuming they're gearing up for the FTTH / UFB rollout. If you want Naked, you'll have to look to an alternative supplier. What is the call center wanting to use it for ? |

| 1327398 | 2013-02-10 22:58:00 | ... What is the call center wanting to use it for ? What I meant was the "Telecom call center". I have one phone number over voip (the other tel.. landline)and want to completely switch to voip. It would make the monthly bill another $ 40.- cheaper. |

They don't do phone-based support, and they're prepaid across the board, but that's partly why they're so cost-competitive. That, and their network was built from the ground up to work with VoIP, and I know they have some *very* clever minds behind their setup, so it's pretty solid thus far for me. Well worth the look: www.2talk.co.nz Who are your lines with currently? |

There is still a line charge and whenever I've looked (admittedly not recently) I've been unable to find a significant saving by switching. The best I found was around $10 a month cheaper and the ISP didn't offer a comparable plan to the one I'm on anyway. There was a lot of hype and a lot of pressure put on to make naked DSL an option, but since it's become available everyone has gone quiet and the offerings are not compelling. Much like the unbundling, we got it and then what? Some ISPs have put some equipment in exchanges but at cabinet level we still basically just have chorus. Those that seemed convinced these two things would bring competition and therefore lower prices overlooked the massive investment and amount of work required to basically duplicate the existing network, most ISPs just piggyback onto existing infrastructure because it's more cost effective and therefore have to pass on the running costs to their customers. Short version, naked is not much cheaper than regular and most ISPs still use chorus for a large part of their network. |

Pretty much, NZ just isn't big enough for multiple wholesalers on that level, yet we have still have some people who are ignorant enough to believe it should be any different with UFB. |

| 1327402 | 2013-02-11 03:44:00 | .......That aside I'd be surprised if you could save anywhere near $40 by going to a naked DSL plan. Existing monthly: ~ $147.- with t..com for 1 landline and broadband + ~ $15.- for 2talk. Total = ~$ 160.- Proposed monthly: Snap NBB $ ~ 70.- 2/ 2talk@ $ 15.- = $ 30.- Total $ 100-120.- Savings approx. $ 40.- Please correct me if I made a mistake. |

| 1327403 | 2013-02-11 04:15:00 | How much data do you go through per-month? What plan are you on with Telecom for it to cost that much? |

| 1327404 | 2013-02-11 07:06:00 | How much data do you go through per-month? had 40gb, plus 40gb which was a free update from telecom, so 80gb. What plan are you on with Telecom for it to cost that much? Total Home Adventure We can do with the 50 from Snap. |

| 1327405 | 2013-02-11 09:03:00 | You are on an expensive old plan telecom doesn't offer any more, one thing they could definately do better is make sure people know that. www.telecom.co.nz add $10 if you are outside the 3 main centres but basically the 150Gb plan I'm on is $110 for 50Gb like you are suggesting it'd be Telecom 50Gb package $95 2talk@ $ 15 Total $ 110 I'm not in any way pushing Telecom, just asking where the $40 saving is ? |
