1302273 2012-09-19 23:12:00 Sophos must have had a bad day. They bring out an update, (For Sophos endpoint protection - an AV program), and it detects anything with the word update in it, as a virus / threat. And it quarantines it's own updater folder lol.

Another AV program to avoid, if you're part of a business

Info about it here (www.neowin.net)

And the forum with the not so happy users here (community.sophos.com)

1302275 2012-09-19 23:43:00 OOPS !!:D

Eset did something similar a while back but they had the fix out within 10 minutes of it happening.

Mind you if Sophos has killed its own updater, then forcing out patches could be close to impossible, unless they have some sort of "backdoor" way to do it.

Will be "interesting" to see how they get around that ;)

1302276 2012-09-19 23:45:00 Sophos is a bit unsophisticated now?
Somebody will be having a stressful work day.

1302279 2012-09-20 01:33:00 it quarantines it's own updater folder

*its

it's = it is \ it has

"it quarantines it is \ has own update folder" doesn't make any sense...

Sorry, that was just irking me!

1302280 2012-09-20 03:39:00 My dad's work uses Sophos. Sophos has suddenly been detecting threats all day, never has before, even when there has been a virus :lol:

I couldn't believe it, found the truth from a google search. Really stupid update.

1302281 2012-09-20 03:46:00 Slightly better screwup than the other AV maker who trashed Windows with their update Agent_24 (57)
1302282 2012-09-20 03:49:00 Slightly better screwup than the other AV maker who trashed Windows with their update :D yeah, but look at it this way, at least they couldn't get on the internet and get any viruses, so its the ultimate protection :lol: wainuitech (129)
