1302206 2012-09-19 11:26:00 Now before any dirty comments appear ;)

"New Zealand's first national earthquake drill is planned for September 26 - at 9.26am" Heard it many times on the radio, everyone's being asked to "drop, cover and hold" as part of New Zealand ShakeOut.

Bet there will some strange looks in many places. Bit like an alien attack in the movies where everyone suddenly drops to the ground :)

Awareness is good, but seriously how many will actually do it ?

Can see there being a problem if driving at the time :D

1302208 2012-09-19 11:56:00 Ironically I will be not far from Te Mari crater on that day, so middle of nowhere...pfft who is going to see :) coldfront (15814)
1302209 2012-09-19 20:15:00 We used to have drills way back when, in nelson, at school.
There was an earthquake - christchurchcitylibraries.com
I was in bed, and remember quite enjoying the ride across my bedroom....(well I was little then)

Auckland is unlikely to get any - volcanos, sure. What's the procedure for volcano eruptions? Run like hell?

Clear your email immediately before the server goes down.

Where would you run to, and how? The motorways would be hopelessly congested in any panic, like 5pm city traffic, but even worse.

Clear the junkmail from your letterbox, sacrifice a missionary, put on your approved fluoro vest, and face the Beehive . Keep a serious expression, increase your iNsurance cover and direct any lava flows onto your neighbour's place .

Not a problem for us ;) (and I'm not talking about rail)

I can see some “Sexual Harassment” claims coming out of this. ;)

In the interest of safety I shall ignore the event. :D

1302214 2012-09-19 21:16:00 What a load of krap.

Some schools may do it, but I can't see many office workers taking part.

A piddling PR exercise that is going to be a humungous flop.
