| 1301479 | 2012-09-17 07:33:00 | Does an S video cable carry sound or do you need seperate cables for the sound ? The reason I ask is a friend of mine rang up DSE to see if they had S video cables and he yes they did. He said they have both 4 wire and nine wire cables and said the nine wire ones carry sound. I think the sales person is incorrect as s video cables are just for video. I checked up on Wikipedia and they confirm what I think. :) |

| 1301481 | 2012-09-17 08:26:00 | S-Video doesn't carry sound. :) Being no more than copper wire with plugs on the end, it could indeed carry audio signals, as could most if not all passive cables. However, in normal usage S-video cables only carry what their name says: video. |
