Very complex problems could soon be readily solved by linking up Super Computers over GigaBit networking. Aussie catches up to NZ on Broadband:
The Australian government has released the importance of broadband development to the national economy, followed by the Broadband Advisory Group (BAG) which has reported that Australia is up to the same level as NZ in terms of broadband development, and also claim that it's 19 development reccomendations could earn the Australian Government over AU$18billion per year. Cyber-Athletes gathering:
A 3 day event, managed by Equinox ( The 3 day event, housed at the North Shore Events Centre - With tournament winners for the three sponsored tournaments scheduled - Age of Mythology from Microsoft, Battlefield 1942 from Electronic Arts and Infogrames' Unreal Tournament 2003, along with Counter-Strike, WarCraft3 and QuakeWorld. However, in attempts to minimize software piracy, Equinox has made it clear to all participants that the event does not endorse illegal file copying and they are going to ensure everyone who competes in official tournaments must present legitimate retail game disks during registration. Judge must turn over name of downloader:
The RIAA can finally get its hands on the name of an internet user who downloaded more than 600 songs in a single day via KaZaA's P2P network, a federal judge has ruled. More information available here (idg.net.nz)

Microsoft's First 'MIRA' Ships:
Microsoft has once more excelled itself and has introduced it's version of PC Access via portable, wireless and Smart Displays.
ViewSonic, the licensed engineer for this project, has released two displays. The ViewSonic Airpanel V110 has a 10-inch screen and is priced at US$999; the V150 has a 15-inch screen and sells for US$1299. Both ViewScreens have included with them a USB Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the PC so it can communicate with the wireless display and Microsoft's Windows XP Professional. Computer virus author jailed:
Simon Vallor, a 22 man has pleaded guilty created to making a virus which has infected thousands of the worlds computers with a mass-mailer virus. He has thought to have seized-up 27,000 computers and caused mayhem in 42 countries with viruses dubbed Gokar, Admirer and Redesi. Judge Geoffrey Rivlin QC said the jail term was a deterrent to others and reflected the serious nature of the crime. "People who commit such offences are not just computer buffs or nerds sitting alone in their bedrooms obsessed with their computers - They also happen to be criminals who are difficult to detect, as they well know" More information available here (news.bbc.co.uk)
