116140 2003-01-23 10:33:00 Cyberchuck - in replying to a post about photo albums last week you wrote -

"also, you can save it in a PPS (PowerPoint Show) file which includes the PowerPoint Viewer - so if you email it to friends or something, and they don't have powerpoint, then they can view the slideshow too!'.

My wife has received an e-mail with a .pps attachment. I had established that it was a form of Powerpoint file but we only have Powerpoint 4 which won't open the file so I am interested in the inbuilt viewer you referred to above. Do all .pps files have the viewer, and if not how can can one distinguish the haves from the have nots? Does .pps signify a file which includes the viewer and .ppt a file without, or are they just 2 different file types? How does one activate the viewer in the files that contain it? I gather that there is a downloadable viewer available from M$ but if the .pps files have it built-in it mightn't be worth the trouble of tracking it down and installing it.

TIA
