My cd rom drive dont work properly i got XP pro and a compaq presario 3200 and when i put a cd in, it starts to make a slight whirring noise as normal but it doesnt speed up and load the autorun like it used to. I have tried everything; including reinstalling it, trying different CDs, etc. can anyone help? thanks heaps javoyle |

| 116101 | 2003-01-26 02:33:00 | Probably a dead or dying laser, so it doesn't even know it has a disk in it. There is no disk detection other than the ability of the laser to read data in a CD ROM |
