116569 2003-01-25 22:57:00 I'm just wondering if their is a way to block certain IPs using a type of Firewall Rule in Red Hat 8.

I could just block it using HOSTS but is there a way to make the Firewall block it?

I'm so use to using Sygate, Zone Alarm and NIS that blocking IPs using rules that I need to do the same thing if I want to completely transfer over to RH.

116570 2003-01-26 01:48:00 Have a look at the Firewall-HOWTO, and the IPChains-HOWTO. They will both refer you to a full discussion at www.adelaide.net.au/~rustcorp ... but read at least the Firewall HOWTO first. (You will have IPChains). Graham L (2)
116571 2003-01-26 03:47:00 I've just installed Firestarter (http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/) which is the nicest firewall interface I've found so far, and will do what you want. bmason (508)
