116904	2003-01-28 20:40:00	2 questions for the linux gurus on here.... 1: In windows I add the "+ms=v34" string to slow my modem down to get a better connection. Where abouts do I put this in linux to achieve the same thing? Does it work in linux? I'm using kppp to dial out in Mandrake 8.1, blackbox window manager if that at all makes a difference.... 2: How do I change the resolution of the console? IE linux boots striaght into X, press ctrl+alt+F1 to get to console , login, the writing is massive on my 17 inch monitor, how do i make it smaller? Cheers, see ya	loser (538)
116905	2003-01-29 04:05:00	I take it you mean the "black" console? I suppose you would need to set the terminal to be 132 (characters) wide, instead of the default 80. Try "apropos terminal". There will be a way, because it was a standrad Unix thing. I used to hate getting mail from people who had those big screens (usually Sun workstations, rather than VT200 terminals ;-))because the lines wrapped around messily. The modem thing is not a Linux or a KPPP thing, it's a modem thing. :D KPPP, though I don't use it so don't know, will probably have a way to send such a configuration string to the modem. I think I have a link to a KPPP help thing in My Linux FAQ ... there'll be one there. Look in the KPPP Howto. At worst you could echo "+ms=v32" > /dev/modem	Graham L (2)

116907	2003-01-30 05:45:00	KPPP -> Setup -> Modem -> modem commands: Either add it to the end of "Initialisation string 0:" (after the Z). Or put "AT+MS=...." in "Initialisation string 1:".	bmason (508)
