116969 2003-01-29 00:27:00 Some good news for all you HP customers who have one of those netropia or whaver keyboard that are "Phoning Home".

HP Have fronted up to the storys and admitted that the keyboards were doing the data transfer, but it was to a sister company.

And also on the news front:

Microsoft has renamed its plan to link hardware and software security inside Windows-based computers. Palladium is now "next-generation secure computing base," which better describes the effort, says the software maker.

Dropping the Palladium code name signals a new phase for the plan that should create a more secure Windows computing platform, says a Microsoft spokesperson.

The change also puts a new name on a plan that has weathered a lot of criticism.

Have they gone too far?? Read the story:

My apologies if the URL's dont work.. I just dont wanna preveiw it.. :(

As I'm the Upper Hutt man refered to in that article,I'm pleased to hear they have removed the offending driver from their site. :-)
Unfortunately HP can't remove the driver from peoples Restore cd's & the only way people will know is if they hear about it from someone else or read about it on a forum like this

It's a shame the ISP'S don't get together & block that IP :-(

Cheers Steve

116973 2003-01-29 08:52:00 No, the link should have been HP Drivers (h20015.www2.hp.com) godfather (25)
116974 2003-01-29 08:57:00 Steve, you can't use long links directly.
If they word wrap in the input box, they add a space (%20 in HTML)

Use [ url = "paste url here"] Descriptive text here [/ url]
Leave out spaces just after the square brackets, I put them in to make it visible and not a link.

116975 2003-01-29 09:26:00 Thanks for the tip Godfather, I don't usually quote URL's that are more than 80 characters in length.
LOL looks like I got caught out. Twice actually.

cheers Steve

116976 2003-01-29 09:34:00 The input text in the "reply" window is only about 55 - 65 chars (depending on proportional spacing) godfather (25)
